So I’ve caught up with the latest episodes of Clannad, Dragonaut: The Resonance and Ef – A Tale of Memories and am now starting my viewing of Goshūshō-sama Ninomiya-kun, which I will from now on refer to as Ninomiya because seriously I can’t remember how to spell that.
Any anime that starts off with the main character decking a polar bear in the middle of a snowstorm is automatically instant crack. Also seriously Mayu looks almost identical to Miharu from Girls Bravo. That’s a plus since I actually enjoyed that anime quite a bit, for what it was…really, really cheesy fanservice laden harem shtick.
Going back to Ninomiya, I’m enjoying the twist in this wacky little harem anime, though I’m not going to spoil what it is for anyone that hasn’t seen this yet. Props to yet another harem anime that doesn’t have a whiney, pathetic main character…and he even has reasons behind his behavior! And beliefs! And character development that consists of more than just “for the sake of the plot I can’t possibly choose between any of my bevy of ladies!”
Otherwise, this seems like it’ll be pretty standard as far as harem plots go. I’m just happy that lately they seem to be giving the main male character plot twists and different motivations in his actions. Sometimes it gets really boring watching a fairly whiney, annoying, pathetic guy fumble his way around a bunch of beautiful woman like an asshat.
I’m looking at you Tenchi. Hina stop hiding behind the couch. Makoto Mizuhara you’re not much better out in El-Hazard either Mister. And Yukinari, seriously boy wtf? Just get with Miharu already and kick everyone else out of the house. Geez.
SPINE MEN! That’s all I’m asking for! Just grow a little spine!
