Comics I read monthly: Ultimate Spider-man, Ultimate Fantastic Four, Ultimate X-men, Fables, Jack of Fables, Powers, Teen Titans Go!, Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century, Justice League Unlimited and The Batman Strikes!
Basically cartoon tie-ins, closed AUniverses, and one writer books. I find myself just not willing to go through the crossover bs anymore for most mainstream comics, partially because of cost, space, time consumption and partially because it seems like as soon as one huge, universe shattering event has happened it’s almost instantly retconned by the next BIG BRIGHT IDEA OF SHINY AWESOME that some comic writer thinks they’ve come up with.
It’s like character death in most superhero comics, I just don’t believe in it. Even if you dump the corpse in front of me, show me the autopsy. I help you burn the body to ashes, scatter them to the four winds, destroy any loose dna samples lying around in labs that are there for the sole purpose of unleashing awful on the world, and then send the three scientists in the entire planet that can bring them back to life to an alternate dimension I know, in my heart of hearts one day that character will come walking in my front door and when I point out that they’re ridiculously dead they’ll tell me in a straight voice, “yeah I was dead, but I got better.”
