Neon Genesis Evangelion Rebuild 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone
I just saw this one today and I gotta say I think they’re doing a good job of making it friendly to the newcomer. Neon Genesis is one of those shows that needs to come with a disclaimer and a warning.
If you want to see the grand daddy of modern mech anime than it’s a must see and in general it’s a classic, but the creator pants was going through some deep psychological troubles while making it and his issues tend to bleed into the show, especially towards the end.
You Are (Not) Alone is the first in a four part movie series that retells the Evangelion story, streamlining it and in general trying to make it more friendly for the casual or brand new viewer. I for one am looking forward to the dvd releases of the movies, especially if they include the Petit Eva ~ Evangelion@School super deformed chibi shorts they’ve been making noise over for the past year. Cutesy Eva in a wacky school setting? That just sounds too cute for words.
